Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz will face Peru in an international friendly football match in Lima, Peru, on January 20. As the date does not fall within a FIFA match window, interim head coach Paul Hall will use the game to look at the best available players and plan for the three World Cup qualifiers starting with Mexico a week later.

Like Jamaica, Peru are fighting for a spot at the FIFA World Cup in 2022. The South Americans are tied for fifth with Colombia on 17 points after 14 games, with four games to go in their CONMEBOL tournament. Four teams qualify directly from CONMEBOL while the fifth team must play in an intercontinental playoff.

Jamaica are sixth with 7 points after eight games, with six remaining. Three teams from Concacaf qualify directly, while the fourth-place team will go to the intercontinental playoff.
