PATRIARCH ticked off a fourth consecutive win yesterday, using his crippling speed to coast into the lane before sprinting clear of stablemate GOD OF LOVE, clocking a sizzling 1:05.2, making a mockery of rivals in the open allowance/graded stakes SVREL 5th Anniversary Trophy.

Back to his best, PATRIARCH was never off his bridle until Robert Halledeen roused the seven-year-old a furlong out, generating a burst of speed to put the five-and-a-half furlong event to rest, logging his 18th win from 39 starts.

GOD OF LOVE put in his usual honest shift but again found his rejuvenated stablemate too swift, chasing him home for the third race in a row.

QUICK DOUBLE

Dane Nelson opened the 10-race card with a quick double for trainer Ian Parsard, booting home favourites CLASSICAL ORB and CRAFTY AND READY.

Bettors who survived 13-1 upsetter, NINA DORADA, and 11-1 Springer BIG ARGUMENT, in third and fifth races, respectively, to spot the $12,831 Reggae 6 payout, were wiped out out of the Twilight 6 by 37-1 stunner, ABOVE HALL LINKS, who had punters streaming out of the park before he was even pulled up by Youville Pinnock.

ABOVE HALL LINKS, unraced since claimed by Welsh Soutar last November, easily split STORM VALLEY and NEZ PERCE off the home turn before running away for a four-length victory, forcing a $3.48 million Twilight 6 carryover to this Saturday’s meet.
