CHAMPS 2022 | Edwin Allen look ominous ahead of girls 4x100 finals
Favourites to claim a seventh ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships title in a row, Edwin Allen eased into the final of the girls Class One 4x100 metres inside the National Stadium this evening.
The Michael Dyke-coached team, who are the fastest high school in the world this season with a time 43.37 seconds, cruised to victory to win the event in 45.32.
They are expected to be challenged by St Jago (45.52), Hydel (45.84), and Manchester (46.02).
Hydel clocked 46.89 in the preliminary round to lead the qualifiers into the final of the girls Class Two. They should receive strong competition from St Catherine (46.99), Holmwood (47.05), St Jago (47.21) and Edwin Allen (47.33).
Edwin Allen will start as the favourites in Class Three after comfortably winning their heat in 47.09.
They should receive good competition from St Jago (47.26), Holmwood (47.54), Alpha (47.80) and Hydel (48.08).
Immaculate leads all qualifiers into the final of the Class Four event after clocking 48.65 to win their heat. Hydel holds the second fastest time of 48.89 going into the final.
Edwin Allen (49.01), St Jago (49.05) and Wolmer’s (49.74) are the other leading qualifiers headed into the Class Four final.
The 4x100 finals are down for 7:20 p.m. on Saturday.
