Ludlow looking for more goals
HARBOUR VIEW coach, Ludlow Bernard, is looking for his team to continue their recent good form in front of goal when they take on Arnett Gardens in the second game of a Jamaica Premier League (JPL) double-header at the Anthony Spaulding Complex this evening at 5:15.
Harbour View have netted 10 goals in their last three matches and could have made it nine points from three games had they not given up three second-half goals after taking a three-nil lead against Tivoli last weekend.
Bernard noted that Arnett were the most difficult opponent they played in the first round but with the addition of Colorado Murray and Nicholas Hamilton in attack, there has been improvement on their side.
He expects a good showing today, even though mercurial forward Trayvonne Reid will be missing because of a suspension.
“I am confident we can rebound. Last week’s episode was a mishap and we paid the price for a little dosage of indiscipline in maintaining a structure and in a player getting sent off.
“Against a more formidable opponent in Arnett Gardens we need to be on our guard a lot more.
“But if the first half of last week’s game is anything to go by, then I think we should be back in business,” he said.
“It is going to be difficult against Arnett. I consider Arnett our most challenging opponent of the first round. They are the only team to have outplayed us.
“But with the recent acquisition of Murray and Hamilton, our fortunes in front of goal have changed immensely and it has given the team a lot of confidence to play.
“We are looking for an able replacement for Reid but I think we will be just as competitive against this Arnett Gardens team, even though we are playing in their backyard,” he pointed out.
ANGLIN OUT INJURED
The team will also be missing Jahshaun Anglin, who has had a major impact in midfield, through injury.
However, he says everyone has developed a level of confidence in the system they play, and he is confident the replacements will fit in well.
“Reid will be heavily missed. He has been crucial in the front three. Anglin didn’t play the last game also and we still scored three goals.
“So the structure seems to be working irrespective of who comes on the pitch. So we expect to pose a threat to the opposition. I am looking forward to a positive result. We are looking for the win,” he said.
Arnett coach Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis says his team has their eyes on a top-two preliminary round finish, and after last weekend’s draw with lowly Humble Lion, they are aiming for a win on Sunday.
“We are still third and the team ahead of us is only by two points and the team at the top is leading us by four points and we will play them again.
“But for this game we are trying to see if we can get these three points from Harbour View. They are a very tough team but we will see if we can get the three points.
“We are trying to get the first or second spot but everybody is fighting for it, so we will try to see what we can do best,” he said.
Arnett are on 28 points, two behind Waterhouse and four adrift of leaders Dunbeholden.
Harbour are eight points behind their opponents in sixth. However, they are four points clear of seventh-place Portmore United.
