Christopher Taylor advanced to the final of the men’s 400 metres event at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon on Wednesday night.

The 22-year-old Taylor was third in semi-final one in a season’s best 44.97 seconds to secure one of two non-automatic qualifying spots to the final.

The race was won by America Michael Norman in 44.30 with second going to Great Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith in 44.38.

Jamaica’s other competitor in the semi-finals, Nathon Allen, failed to advance after he stopped shortly after the start of semi-final two. Team official Dennis Gordon said Allen has an Achilles tendon injury and will be evaluated over the next two days.
