National record for Marileidy Paulino in 400m
World Championship silver medallist Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic captured the women's 400 metres title at the Diamond League final today in Zurich, Switzerland.
Paulino led a Caribbean podium finish clocking a world-leading and national record time of 48.99 seconds for victory while her countrywoman Fiordaliza Cofil was second in 49.93. World Championship bronze medallist Sada Williams of Barbados was third 49.98 seconds.
World Championships 4x400 metres silver medallist, Candice McLeod was fourth in 50.03 and 2013 World Championships bronze medallist Stephanie-Ann McPherson was eighth in 52.32 McLeod and McPherson are Jamaicans.
