Cover holds on to take 55th Jamaica Open title

AMERICAN PATRICK Cover just managed to stave off a resilient rally from compatriot Josh Anderson to secure his second Jamaica Open title following a dramatic final day at Tryall in Hanover.

Cover, who came into the final day with a seven-shot lead, shot a final round two under par 70 to finish with a 13 under par total of 203 to win by four shots.

Josh Anderson made the final day interesting following his remarkable seven under par 65 in the round which saw him totalling nine under par 207 to finish runner-up.

Defending champion Michael Maquire finished third following his final round four under par 68 to finish five shots off the leader with a total of 208.

Trinidadian Martin Benjamin rounded out the top four following his four-under total of 212.

Jamaican pro, Wesley Brown, had to settle for tied 15th place after his final round plus one which totalled 219.

Justin Burrowes maintained his lead throughout to secure the amateur title after carding a one-over par 73 to finish with a three-over-par total of 219.

Zandre Roye finished in second place with a total of six over par 222 while William Knibbs ended third following his ten over par 226.

Canadian Micahel Moniz secured the senior professional title with a 20 over par 226 while Jamaican Owen Samuda took away the senior amateur title with a 21 over par 227.
