I’VE GOT MAGIC.
I’VE GOT MAGIC.

I’VE GOT MAGIC recovered from traffic problems a furlong after the start to outclass St Leger winner BLUE VINYL at six furlongs in yesterday’s Ahwhofah Sprint, franking his creditable run behind stablemate EXCESSIVE FORCE in the Mouttet Mile.

Drifting out to 2-1 in the betting, United States-bred I’VE GOT MAGIC was hemmed in between horses shortly after the start, leaving him 10th while BLUE VINYL went after up-in-class LAST LICK, whose days on the lead were always numbered among overnight-allowance company.

BLUE VINYL took over from LAST LICK with ARTESIA in chase along the rail while I’VE GOT MAGIC mended rapidly to improve into fourth leaving the three-furlong marker.

Using his superior pace, I’VE GOT MAGIC, running two classes lower than the Grade One Mouttet Mile, quickly slipped into third past ARTESIA and got the rail run into the lane, pouncing in BLUE VINYL a furlong and a half out.

BLUE VINYL, who had sprinted clear of LAST LICK coming off the home turn, staged a brief rally but four-year-old American I’VE GOT MAGIC showed he belonged in a different league, lengthening his strides to win going away from the local-bred.

I’VE GOT MAGIC kept defending champion jockey Anthony Thomas’ in striking distance of Dane Dawkins, who had earlier won the fourth event with Patrick Lynch’s SIMBA DI LION.

Dawkins had started the afternoon on 89 winners, one ahead of Thomas, moving to 90 with an easy win aboard SIMBA DI LION at five furlongs straight.

Female rider Samantha Fletcher rode a two-timer on the nine-race card, opening the programme astride ACTION RUN before landing the third with THREE CARD GUY.

Racing continues at the weekend with Saturday-Sunday meets.
