She’s My Destiny slams rivals in feature

SHE’S MY DESTINY blinded GOD OF LOVE with speed, shooting clear four and a half furlongs out with Omar Walker, to easily land yesterday’s Chris Armond Sprint Trophy in an out-of-class 1:04.4 at five and a half furlongs.

DUKE, running with a nine-pound weight swing on GOD OF LOVE, went in chase of SHE’S MY DESTINY a furlong and a half out but was thoroughly outsped by the four-year-old filly, who won by five lengths with Omar Walker.

GOD OF LOVE stayed on for third, unable to match strides early with 3-5 favourite SHE’S MY DESTINY, and too winded to see off DUKE.

The afternoon’s nine-race card opened and closed with stunning upsetters, adding respectability to the Reggae 6 and Twilight 6 payouts of $119,283 and $48,193, respectively.

Treated with lasix for his third start, three-year-old maiden DELAY THE GAME wasted no time, hopping to the front of the opening event to make every post a winning one at odds of 35-1 with sparingly used claiming rider Matthew Bennett.

In the closing event at six furlongs, a spunky NORTHERN LADY broke on top, fending off BESTDAUGHTERINLAW, before quickening off the home turn.

Meanwhile, Dane Dawkins remained at the top of the trainers standings’ with 98 winners after he and rival Anthony Thomas managed one winner apiece.

Dawkins is seeking his first riders’ title whereas Thomas is the three-time defending champion.
