Frazsiers Whip, leaders of Zone A, and Cavalier, the leaders in Zone B, meet in the long-awaited Jamaica Women’s Premier League (JWPL) cross-zone clash today at the Royal Lakes Complex at 3 p.m.

Frazsiers lead Zone A with maximum 12 points after four starts, including a 20-0 whipping of Rangers FC.

In their only real test to date, they outscored Olympic Gardens 3-2 and the Xavier Gilbert-coached team will start today’s game as the slight favourites.

The league’s leading scorer Shaneil Buckley (11) will lead the way for Frazsiers, along with David Richards, Christina Salmon and Natoya Harrison

However, Cavalier have been equally impressive, with as many wins from as many games; and while Frazsiers have outscored them 43 to 32, Cavalier are yet to concede, while the Frazsiers’ defence has been breached on three occasions.

The Everdean Scarlett-coached Cavalier will fancy their chances and will look to Rena Gordon, Jynnell Graham, Sashana Watson, Kersha Thomas, Ramona Wallace and Suen Gregory.

Olympic Gardens and Vere also meet in another big encounter at the UWI-JFF Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence at 3 p.m.

Both are second in their groups and do not want to lose any ground on the leaders.

“We expect a good matchup,” said Olympic Gardens manager Micheal Peart. “We have never seen them play, so we do not know their style of play or know how good they are.

“But based on the results, we think they must have some quality, so we are going in strong; we will not underestimate them.”

Vere, with nine points, trail Frazsiers Whip, the only team to beat them. Frazsiers have 12 points.

Vere’s manager, Akeisha Rose, looks forward to a tough match, but she is confident her team can do the job.

“We are pretty confident that we will play well and we will score. We are feeling good about how well we have done. We do not have any concerns about them, as we believe we are well-equipped to take them on,” she said. “We expect them to come and give their best, they are a good team, but we do not feel threatened by them. We are very confident in our players. We can win this game.”
