Habiba Harris upsets Alexis James at Carifta Trials

St Elizabeth Technical High School's Habiba Harris caused an upset in the under-20 girls’ 100m hurdles while Calabar's Shaquan Gordon won the under-20 boys’ 110m event as the Carfita Trials concluded today inside the National Stadium.

Harris defeat reigning Carifta Games and world under-20 silver medallist Alexis James of Petersfield, clocking 13.35 seconds to pip James at the tape. James clocked 13.38 to finish second ahead of St Catherine High's Asharria Ulett, 13.63

Meanwhile Gordon won the boys’ 110m title in 13.50 seconds, finishing ahead of St Jago's Demario Prince and Andre Harris, 13.56, and 14.04 respectively.

Reigning Carifta Games under-17 champion Bryana Davidson should be defending her title after winning the girls’ final in 13.50 ahead of Hydel's Camoy Binger, 13.74, and Excelsior’s Shelly Ann Taylor, 13.83.

Kingston College's Kahiem Carby won the under-17 boys’ title in 13.81, while Jamaica College’s Shakir Lewis was second in 14.27 and St Jago's Romario Jibbison, third in 14.29.
