#Champs2023 | KC respond to JC with gold, silver in Class Two 1500 final
Defending ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships winners Kingston College (KC) responded to Jamaica College’s (JC) gold and silver performance in Class Two long jump final, with a similar feat in the Class Two 1500 metres today.
Kenyans Brian Kiprop and Nahashon Ruto grabbed the top two spots in the final, stopping what would have been a repeat from Maggoty’s Yoshane Brown.
Kiprop was challenged by teammate Ruto but managed to stave off his sustained pressure and crossed the line in a time of 4:07:46 minutes, with countryman Ruto settling for silver in 4:07:64. Defending champion Brown was a distant third as he crossed the tape in 4:11:52.
In the boys’ Class Three final, the exploits of Calabar’s Carlos Brison-Caines secured maximum points following his 4:18:18 minutes gold-medal performance, with Maggotty’s Jayden Brown getting silver in a time of 4:18:26 as JC’s Yohance Carty took bronze in 4:33:88.
In the Class One final, KC’s Ainsley Campbell relied on a superb final 400 metres, to secure the gold medal. Campbell crossed the line in a time of 4:02:63 minutes and was followed by St. Jago’s Corlando Chambers, who did 4:04:19 and JC’s Kemarrio Bygrave, who clocked 4:05:26.
