FORMER ALL-JAMAICA champions David Goldsmith and Damion Johnson seem to be on a collision course for championship honours following day two action of the Bounty Invitational Tennis Classic, under way at the Couples, Tower Isle tennis courts.

The former junior and senior champion, Goldsmith, looked imperious in his second-round encounter, demolishing number-two seed Jeremy Miller, 6-0, 6-0.

Goldsmith utilised his booming serve-and-volley game to perfection, not giving Miller a sniff of a chance at any of the points to wrap up the encounter in quick time and advance to today’s semifinal.

“I just tried to play my game and hoped it worked out for the best because I know I was playing against a dangerous player. The strategy was to come to the net a lot and keep the balls very low and it worked out as I am playing at my best right now,” said Goldsmith.

Miller, who had a walkover on yesterday’s first day, could not come to terms with the synthetic surface, hence the heavy defeat.

“Not being able to play yesterday did not work in my favour and I just didn’t get anything going and I just couldn’t manage a game,” said Miller.

Goldsmith will lock horns with Matthew Rodriquez in the semifinal after Rodrigues got by Davian Burrell, 6-4, 5-7, 10-1.

JOHNSON EASE INTO FINAL

In the meantime, number-one seed Damion Johnson, also eased into the final four following a 6-0, 6-1 win over Adam Harris. Johnson will square off with Nicholas Chung in the semis after he came from a set down to beat number-three seed Yussuf Migoko, 4-6, 7-5, 10-7.

Over in Class Two action, Keron Lue Fung got by Gary Hunter, 6-2, 4-6, 10-6, while Jonathan March saw off Bruce Hart, 6-4, 7-6, to advance. The men’s Class Three saw wins for Bryan Robinson, Garen Williams, Kenrick Picknight, Yannick Simpson, Carlington Burrell and Bryan Lumley.

In the ladies’ amateur section, played earlier in the day, Chandie James took care of Seraton-Kimloy Wint, 6-2, 6-4, while Marie Imbault saw off Raquel Nevins, 6-4, 4-6, 13-11. Lotoya Facey also moved on to the next round following a 6-1, 6-1 win over Lucille Hayles, while Marsha Lee Thomas secured a 2-6, 6-2, 10-8 win over Kemi Richardson.
