USA bump Under-20 Girlz from Concacaf Champs
Jamaica's chance of progressing to the next round of the Concacaf Under-2020 Women’s Championships taking place in the Dominican Republic was smashed after they were beaten 4-0 at the Estadio Felix Sanchez by the United States of America (USA) for a second successive defeat in Group A today.
The Girlz, who lost to Canada with an identical scoreline, started slowly and found themselves behind after only 11 minutes when Madeline Dahlien scored.
The USA took control as the young Reggae Girlz took some time to settle, but eventually provided a few concerns for the USA before the break but failed to take advantage of good breaks.
Two minutes after the restart, the USA added a second goal through a thunderous strike from Dahlien.
Two minutes later, the USA extended their lead when Tessa Dellarosa scored, and they continued to dictate possession, although the Reggae Girlz were positive and had their moments.
However, the Americans created more chances to increase their lead, but good defending and goalkeeping kept them from adding to their lead until Dahlien struck again for her hat-trick 11 minutes from time.
The Jamaicans will play Panama, yet to score a point after two matches, in their last game on Tuesday.
The USA and Canada have six points from two games and will progress to the last four.
