Jamaican Smith captures NCAA Outdoor long jump title

Jamaican athletes made it two from two in the long jump at the NCAA Division One Outdoor Championships as Ackelia Smith was victorious in the women’s event tonight, following Carey McLeod’s victory in the men’s event on Wednesday.

Smith, the world leader, used her final attempt of 6.88 metres to win the women's long jump, to give herself her first NCAA title as Alyssa Jones of Stanford took second with 6.86 and defending champion Jasmine Moore of the University of Florida, third with 6.66.
