Mona Prep Invitational enjoys successful return

THE MONA Preparatory School Invitational Track and Field Meet returned in fine style last Saturday, with much excitement both on and off the track.

Held at the prestigious UWI/Usain Bolt Track, the event garnered tremendous support from athletes, coaches, and spectators alike, and it was made even more special by the presence of the legendary sprinter himself.

Bolt, the fastest man in history and a Jamaican icon, graced the event with his presence, motivating the young athletes, who eagerly sought his attention both on and off the track.

The event featured a range of exhilarating track and field events, including sprints, relays, long jump, high jump, ball throw and more.

More than 20 schools and track clubs participated in with Sts Peter and Paul, Our Lady of the Angels and Mona preparatory schools finishing one, two, three, respectively, among the boys and Primary Western Conquerors, Sts Peter and Paul and Lannaman’s ending as the top three among the girls.

POSITIVE FEEDBACK

According to the meet organisers, the feedback was positive, with a few areas of improvement to be looked at for next year’s staging.

Special thanks also to Usain Bolt for gracing the event and providing invaluable inspiration to the young athletes. The Mona Prep Invitational Track Meet marks another milestone in the school’s commitment to fostering excellence, sportsmanship, and athletics development in young individuals and we look for to next year’s staging,” remarked Teino Evans, assistant PR chair for the school’s PTA executive and a member of the organising committee.
