The Athletics Integrity Unit, an arm of the World Anti-Doping Agency, has announced the official suspension of Jamaican quarter miler, Christopher Taylor.

Taylor, was recently charged with evading, refusing, or failing to submit to a sample collection stemming from an incident last November.

However, the body has always maintained that a provisional suspension does not, in any way, suggest guilt. In the case of the charge facing Taylor, which is viewed in the same light as an adverse analytical finding, a provisional suspension is mandatory.

According to World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Rule 10.3.1, Taylor faces a four-year ban if found guilty.

However, even if found guilty, Taylor’s ban could be reduced to two years if the 400 World Championships finalist can establish that the commission of the anti-doping violation was not intentional or he can prove exceptional circumstances that justify a reduction.

Taylor already has legal representation in the matter.
