Canada-based super welterweight Jamaican boxer Joshua Frazer will return to the ring tonight, after a 11-month layoff, to take on Mexican Angel Rosales in a six-round bout, part of a six-fight card being put on by United Boxing Promotions at the Saldon Arena in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.

The feature bout is between Canadian Mark Smith and Mexican Jose Jasso, for the International Boxing Organisation’s (IBO) Americas super light heavyweight title.

Frazer, who is a former Jamaica amateur champion, has been making a name for himself since turning professional in December 2021. He has accumulated an impressive 7-0 record, with six of those fights ending inside the distance, before taking a break since November last year. He told The Gleaner yesterday, that he is ready to go once more and is looking forward to the clash with his Mexican opponent.

Rosales, who has been boxing since June 2018, has had 11 fights. He has won six and lost five, and word is that he is aggressive and likes to take the fight to his opponent. This is the type of opponent that Frazer likes, and an action-packed encounter is therefore expected. Frazer has expressed confidence going into the fight, and says that he is prepared for anything that his opponent will throw at him.

His father, Dewith, who trains him, is a former Jamaica Olympic representative. He has expressed confidence that Joshua will move his record up to 8-0 after this fight, and impressively.

“The break has been good for him. He is fit and ready to fight and I expect a good performance from him on Saturday,” he said.
