Jamaica record first win in U-17 FIBA Centrobasket Champs

Jamaica’s under-17 boys registered their first victory of the ongoing FIBA Centrobasket Championship in Belize following a close 77-76 win over Costa Rica today.

The Wayne Dawkins-coach Jamaica, who lost their three Group A fixtures against Puerto Rico (102-54), Belize (93-68) and Panama (76-43), were led by Marcus McDonald, who produced 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists and D’Marley Elliot, who had 18 points, two rebounds and an assist.

Jamaica will now face the winner of the Panama and El Salvador match in today’s fifth-place playoff set for 7 p.m. Jamaica time.
