Candice McLeod will be Jamaica's lone representative in the final of the women's 400 metres at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

McLeod, competing in heat one, finished fourth in semi-final one in 50.62 seconds but managed to secure a non-automatic qualifying spot in a race that was won by Dominican Republic's Marileidy Paulino in 49.54.

Nickisha Pryce, in semi-final two, finished fifth after clocking 51.24 while Charokee Young had to settle for sixth in 51.40.

Poland's Natalia Kaczmarek is the quickest through to the final in a time of 49.50, while Barbados' Sada Williams ended that heat in second, clocking 49.58.
