DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Clarendon College (CC) kept their one hundred per cent win record intact, securing their third straight victory with the 8-0 drubbing of Claude McKay in their Zone H ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup encounter at Effortville yesterday.

Captain Malachi Douglas was, again, instrumental in the commanding performance, netting a four-timer to help maintain their lead atop the group with maximum points while Claude McKay are rooted at the foot of the table, having suffered their third straight defeat.

CC head coach Lenworth Hyde said his charges did exactly what was necessary, with the team fine-tuning as the competition progresses.

“What we asked them to do, they did it today, which was possessional football. We want to continue on that trend because we are going to meet teams that we are going to have to keep the ball on most occasions, so that is what we are working on.”

Elsewhere, Edwin Allen kept pace with Clarendon College in Zone H after they blanked Kellits High 6-0 to secure what was also their third win of the campaign.

Edwin Allen has now scored 16 goals, one less than Clarendon College. In another Zone H encounter, Thompson Town are in third place in the group after edging Lennon 2-1.

In the meantime, St Elizabeth Technical High School also made it three straight wins in the competition after hammering Newell 8-0 to maintain their lead atop Zone E.

Garvey Maceo also secured their third win on the trot, a comfortable 4-0 beating of Vere Technical to top Zone M.

Manchester have also joined the number of teams on a hat-trick of wins, clobbering Cross Keys 11-0 to stay atop Zone F with a perfect record and 20 goals to boot.

In other games, Ocho Rios tagged William Knibb 1-0 to be on top of Zone C with six points while over in Zone N, Fair Prospect and Port Antonio played to a 1-1 draw.
