Zone C leaders Cedric Titus High will be seeking their fifth win of the season when they visit York Castle High in a top-of-the-table clash in the ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup competition in Brown’s Town, St Ann, today. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m.

Both teams have lost just once. Cedric Titus lead with 12 points while York Castle are on 10. Cedric Titus can extend their lead with a win while York Castle have the opportunity to leapfrog the leaders with a victory.

Derrick Pryce, coach of Cedric Titus, said it is very important to get a win and go clear of York Castle.

“In terms of points, we want to stay on top of the group. We haven’t seen York Castle play this season so we are not sure what to expect. The key to this season is that this unit has more players that are humble,” Pryce explained.

“We plan to push on. Hopefully, we can get through to the quarterfinals and concede less goals. Our key players are Rashawn Small, he provides goals and creates plays for the team. Our 14-year-old goalkeeper Anthony Gaynor is extremely brave and is one of those who will be good for the future of the programme,” Pryce said.

York Castle coach Valnie Clarke said yesterday that team grows each time they play.

“It’s another game that we will do our best to try and win. Every game we play, we try to improve and grow. Tomorrow’s game will give us another chance to keep learning about ourselves as a team. We aim to create student athletes who are assured, disciplined, highly educated and prepared to transition to higher learning or, for the lucky few, professional sports,” Clarke said.

He added: “Our team is a young one but we do have quality in it. However, we will be without our leading goalscorer Kemarie Hunter for tomorrow’s game, but we still have the likes of Kemar Knox and captain Kamani Campbell to have a big game.”

Seventeen games in the rural area will go ahead as scheduled today.
