McGrath High moved closer to a place in the second round of the ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup following their 1-0 win over Charlemont High in a rescheduled Zone J encounter yesterday.

The win lifts McGrath to nine points from five games, making them joint leaders of the zone with Dinthill Technical who also have nine points, as their game against Enid Bennett High was halted due to lightning.

Charlemont’s second loss sees them sit in third place in the group on six points.

Over in Zone E, B.B. Coke joined St Elizabeth Technical atop the group on 16 points following their fourth win, after they blanked Sydney Pagon 4-0.

In other rescheduled games, Ocho Rios High and Brown’s Town High played to a 1-1 draw at Drax Hall; St Mary High went to Stockholm Park and hammered Carron Hall High 6-0; Christiana High went to Bellefield and took all three points following a 2-0 win; Holmwood Technical also tagged Alphansus Davis High 2-0; while Wycliffe Martin High turned back Horace Clarke High 2-0.

In other fixtures, May Day High travelled to Cross Keys High and handed them a 5-1 beating; and Belair had a workmanlike 2-0-win 0ver Mt St Joseph Catholic High.

In the meantime, another nine fixtures take place today with Zone A leaders Cornwall College on 16 points in action against second-place and hosts Irwin High who are two points behind. In another Zone A clash, third-place St James High take on fifth-place Spot Valley High.

Over in Zone B, second-place Frome Technical on 12 points will take on third-place Green Island High who have six points from four games.

Zone M leaders Garvey Maceo are expected to have a walk in the park as they take on cellar dwellers Tacius Golding High who have lost all five games they have played.

Second-place Vere Technical will have a trickier tie when they square off with third-place Kemps Hill High.
