Clarendon College (CC) have continued to steamroll their way through the first round of the ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup football competition, this time making a mockery of the opposition Claude McKay posed at Foga Road yesterday.

Kaheim Dixon proved the main destroyer, scoring five of the 15 unanswered goals his side put past Claude McKay.

Dixon now has 13 goals this season, following a second game in which he has scored more than three goals.

In the first half where there was seven successful raids on the Claude McKay goal, Dixon first bookended a Malachai Douglas goal before Christopher Hull got in on the act to make it four. DeAndre Gallimore would make it five before two goals from Dixon sandwiched another strike from Hull.

With the game well and truly over, one would have forgiven CC if they took their foot off the gas pedal. They didn’t.

Eight goals came in a torrid second half, with Douglas and Dixon being joined on the scoresheet by Nicholi Forbes.

The result, along with news that Kellits High School had been booted from the competition because ISSA found them to have intentionally attempted to subvert fairness and have someone play under another’s identity, means that Clarendon are already through to the second round, having racked up an unassailable 21 points.

In other games yesterday, DeCarteret College, despite a 4-0 win over May Day, still find themselves third in Zone F, six points shy of Belair Academy, who are on 18.

Zone J leaders Dinthill made light work of their match-up against third-place Charlemont, running out 7-0 winners, while, in Zone L, leaders Glenmuir were held 1-1 by Central. The last times the teams met, Central were handed a 5-1 defeat, but rebounded to show they have the quality to hang with the big teams.

Still, the result leaves Central third in Zone L behind Denbigh, who are on 10 points along with them but with a far superior goal difference.
