Xavier Gilbert will remain head coach of Jamaica’s senior women’s football team for two more Concacaf Gold Cup qualifying games.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), the governing body for the sport locally.

The appointment means Gilbert will be the man in charge when Jamaica host Group B leaders Panama on November 29 and on December 3 when the Reggae Girls travel to Guatemala for their return game.

Jamaica lost 2-1 to Panama last Wednesday in the first leg of their home-and-away fixture before playing out a 2-2 draw with Guatemala on Sunday.

“The JFF commends Xavier and the Senior Reggae Girlz for the recent performances against Panama and Guatemala and is grateful for their response to the call to represent Jamaica and the JFF with such sterling performances,” the JFF said in a statement announcing Gilbert’s selection.

The JFF says it looks forward to the upcoming games and hope that more fans will turn out to support the team.
