Defending champions top zones in ISSA urban netball

DEFENDING SENIOR and junior champions, St Catherine High and St Hugh’s High, closed out their fixtures last Friday with wins to top their respective zones and advance to the second round of the ISSA urban schoolgirls’ netball competition

The Phyllis Thompson-coached St Catherine High, who won their first title last year, defeated St Andrew Technical 31-9 for their fifth straight win to top Zone B with a clean sheet. They will be joined in the second round by St Jago High who have won four of five matches.

It was also five out of five for defending junior champions St Hugh’s as the Nardia Hanson-coached team remained unbeaten after an easy 23-12 win over Tarrant High. They topped Zone D and will be joined in the next round by Campion College after the latter’s 25-20 victory over Convent of Mercy (Alpha) to finish second.

It was, overall, a busy day for teams last Friday as matches in the preliminary round were concluded. The second round will begin on Thursday.
