HOLMWOOD TECHNICAL’s netballers maintained their dominance over their rivals in the ISSA Rural Schoolgirls’ netball competition after an impressive double in second-round action at Manning’s School yesterday.

The Carline Graham-Powell-coached juniors first dismissed Cambridge High 32-12 before the seniors whipped Cambridge High 81-10.

Both Holmwood teams have already booked their quarter-final spots with just the rescheduled games to be played in the second round at G.C. Foster College next Monday against last year’s beaten finalists Manchester High.

Coach Graham-Powell said she was now looking forward to the semi-finals as this is where the teams will be tested by their opponents.

“I am not surprised by these results, as,over the years, it has always been like this, as most of the rural teams are weak and we normally get our real test in the semi-finals,” said Graham-Powell.

Defending senior champions Glenmuir High, who have only played one match so far in the second round, did not get the chance to play their second game at G. C. Foster College yesterday, as their opponents Guys Hill High failed to show for the game. Their junior team was in action, however, as they won their second game of the round by defeating Dinthill Technical 27-13.

Denbigh High had two victories in their matches played at G.C. Foster College. Their juniors got by Charlemont High 41-20 before the seniors closed out the double by powering past Dinthill 56-19.
