Scorpions seeking 234 to defeat WI Academy

The Jamaica Scorpions will have all of 90 overs to bat and try to get 234 runs to beat the West Indies Academy on today’s fourth and final day of their West Indies Championship match at Sabina Park.

After adding another 46 runs to their overnight total of 326 to gain a 48-run lead, the Scorpions dismissed the West Indies Academy side just before the close for 281 in their second innings yesterday.

Leg-spinner Abhijai Mansingh was the main destroyer for the home side as he bagged four wickets for 70 runs with off-spinner Peat Salmon supporting with three for 55.

Wicketkeeper batsman Carlon Bowen-Tuckett was the innings top scorer with 53 from 133 deliveries with six fours. Opener Kadeem Alleyne weighed in with 52 from 41 balls with six fours and three sixes. The West Indies Academy also got useful contributions of 36 from lower-order batter Joshua James with Ashmead Nedd chipping in with 30 while Johan Alleyne was unbeaten on 22.

Earlier, the Scorpions, who resumed on 326 for seven, saw overnight batsman Peat Salmon adding another 21 runs to his overnight 60. The tall right-hander batted 198 deliveries and hit eight fours and a six.

Derval Green made 35 before falling to left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop who ended with six for 96. Kadeem Alleyne picked up two for 29.

At Frank Worrell Field (Trinidad): Hurricanes require 301 runs to win with all 10 wickets intact.

Combined Campuses and Colleges Marooners 273 all out and 301 (Kjorn Ottley 99; Rahkeen Cornwall 4-62, Jeremiah Louis 3-59).

Leeward Islands Hurricanes 259 all out (Kieran Powell 114; Romario Greaves 5-63) and three without loss.

At Coolidge Cricket Ground (Antigua): Pride require 312 for victory with all 10 wickets intact.

Guyana Harpy Eagles 436 all out (Veerasammy Permaul 90, Kevlon Anderson 87) and 136 for eight decl. (Kevlon Anderson 33, Kevin Sinclair 25; Jomel Warrican 3-32).

Barbados Pride 230 (Jonathan Drakes 10) and 31 without loss.

At Queen’s Park Oval (Trinidad): Red Force require 176 runs with eight wickets remaining.

Windward Islands Volcanoes 191 all out and 288 (Sunil Ambris 71, Jeremy Solozano 70; Jayden Seales 3-45).

Trinidad & Tobago Red Force 294 all out (Tion Webster 107 not out) and 10 for two.
