Excelsior won by 10 wickets.

Excelsior High and Kingston College (KC) advanced to the final of the ISSA/GK Insurance Urban Area Twenty20, after defeating St. George’s College and St. Catherine High, respectively, in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

At St. George’s, Excelsior defeated the hosts by 10 wickets, while KC, playing on their home turf, stopped St. Catherine by 21 runs.

Scores: St. George’s 66, Excelsior 69 without loss; and KC 174 for four, St Catherine 153 for six.

Opting to bat first, St George’s were skittled out for 66 from 18.1 overs, after being positioned at 64 for four, before they lost a cluster of six quick wickets, which placed them in a precarious position.

Tamarie Redwood was St. George’s main destroyer with three wickets for 11 runs from four overs. He was assisted by Tarique Forbes and Michael Clarke, who both took two wickets.

Excelsior in their innings, raced to 51 without loss from three overs, before completing the easy victory in the next over, with David Dewar contributing an aggressive 60 not out from 18 balls, with eight fours and four sixes.

Meanwhile, hosts KC batting first, progressed steadily in their 174 for four from their allotted 20 overs, with Kev-Andre Virgo getting 74 from 54 balls with five fours and four sixes and Courtney Hanchard contributing 30 from 28 balls with one four and one six.

St. Catherine started their reply slowly, but always in the contest, until three runouts in their pursuit of quick runs in the latter stages, dented their hopes of a victory, with chief run-getters Robeno Reid and Jaheim Frater being two of the victims.

Reid made 44 from 36 balls with one four and three sixes as Frater contributed 38 from 21 balls with one four and one six.
