JOA announces management team to Paris Olympics
THE JAMAICA Olympic Association (JOA) has announced the team that it will be using to manage the affairs of the country’s athletes down to perform at the Paris Games in another two months.
In a release, the JOA said it went through a rigorous evaluation of several applicants before deciding on the team.
The team, the JOA said, will be led by Ian Kelly, chef de mission, with Donald Quarrie acting as his deputy.
The team to Paris will also include Dr Leroy Harris, who will act as the chief medical officer, while the trio of SportsMax marketing manager, Kaydean Webley, secretary general of Jamaica Cycling, Donnakaye Sharpe, and president of the Jamaica Darts Association, Evon Faulkner, will take care of management of logistics, athletes welfare, coaches welfare, accreditation, and accommodation.
The five-man team will be overseen by games commissioner, Ryan Foster.
According to the JOA, the team is representative of the body’s decision to respond to calls to broaden the pool from which managers are selected.
The Olympic Games run from July 26 to August 11.
