EXPERIENCED LOCAL coach Phillip Williams is happy to be part of the restructuring of 2022-23 beaten Jamaica Premier League (JPL) finalists Dunbeholden in the capacity of head coach.

“I’m elated to join the Dunbeholden family, they’re undertaking a restructuring and I’m happy to be part of that process,” said Williams.

According to Williams, conversations with Dunbeholden’s management have convinced him this was a worthwhile project.

“I joined them because of an alignment of ideas and objectives for the upcoming season,” said Williams.

Last season, Dunbeholden finished outside of the playoff spot in eighth place, winning 10 of their 26 games, losing nine, and drawing seven. Williams explained that his job was to see the club maintain a certain level of competitiveness in the league.

“Dunbeholden has been a stable club since their promotion and my appointment is to see that stability continue while developing a programme that is competitive and marketable,” said Williams.

While Dunbeholden gears up for preseason training, Williams believes the working environment that has been created by its owners augurs well for player development and is eagerly anticipating the JPL’s start.

“The top executives of the club have so far created an environment of inclusion and honesty, which has impressed me so far and I’m really looking forward to working with them in achieving set objectives and move the club forward.”
