RG SPORTS Foundation saddened at the passing of Kay Wilson
THE RJRGLEANER Sports Foundation is saddened by news of the passing of sports aficionado, our beloved Kathleen ‘Kay’ Wilson, OD, a treasure that we have had the opportunity to share several of our awards’ functions with, since taking over the hosting of this event which recognises excellence in sports.
A former director of the Carreras Sports Foundation (forerunner to RJRGLEANER hosting the awards), Kay was previously a national hockey player, an administrator and served as president of the Jamaica Women’s Hockey Association. In 2012, she was one of three nominees for our Foundation’s Sagicor Iconic Award and was frequently present at our gala event, with her charming smile, to celebrate excellence, with whomever the winners were each year.
For her contribution as a player and an administrator at the local, regional and international levels the RJRGLEANER Sports Foundation pays tribute to our friend and inspiration, Kathleen ‘Kay’ Wilson.
“Kay has been such a blessing and motivator to the sporting community, including our Foundation, that she will forever be in our memories for the contribution she has made to hockey in particular, but to sports in general”, said Gary Allen, chairman of the RJRGLEANER Foundation.
