The quartet of Shanoya Douglas, Alliah Baker, Briana Campbell, and Alana Reid brought home Jamaica’s third World Under-20 Championships gold medal after winning the 4x100-metre relay earlier today in Lima, Peru.

The Jamaicans inside the Estadio Atlético de la Villa Deportiva Nacional were almost half a second faster than nearest rivals, Switzerland, clocking a season’s best 43.39 seconds.

The win marked the third in a row for the Jamaicans in the event, following world- record breaking performances in Nairobi, Kenya four years ago and in Cali, Colombia in 2022.

The Swiss quartet of Imea Rankl, Lia Thalmann, Chloé Rabac, and Alicia Masini were second in a national under-20 record, 44.06.

Canada were third in 44.60 seconds.

The win takes Jamaica’s medal tally to four — three gold and a bronze.
