Mona High players celebrate after scoring against Waterford High during the opening match of ISSA/WATA Manning Cup at the Montego Bay Sports Complex on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

The ISSA/WATA Manning Cup competition gets into full gear this afternoon, following Saturday’s opening day, and the feature games of the day will be in Group E, where St Jago and Wolmer’s Boys renew their rivalry from last season, and Tivoli High and Denham Town High meet in a west Kingston derby.

Although Wolmer’s topped Group G last season with 25 points, three more than St Jago, they failed to beat their St Catherine rivals in two outings, losing 2-0 at home at Heroes Circle and drawing 1-1 in Spanish Town.

The Jerome Waite-coached Wolmer’s will have it all to do again today when they travel to Monk Street to face the home team.

Meanwhile, Tivoli will start favourites when they take on neighbours and rivals Denham Town at Tivoli High School.

Tivoli finished second to Jamaica College in Group B last term, and with a number of key players returning, should have the edge against a Denham Town team that only managed six points from 10 games last season.

On Saturday’s opening day in Montego Bay, defending champions Mona High blanked Waterford High 7-0.
