ZONE E’S St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) and B.B. Coke High will face each other in the ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup at the STETHS Sports Complex in St Elizabeth today at 3:30 p.m.

Head coach of STETHS, Omar ‘Rambo’ Wedderburn, told The Gleaner that preparations going into today’s game have gone smoothly.

“There are no complaints thus far with preparations. I think we are relaxed, I think we are settled and are just waiting on the game today to execute,” Wedderburn said briefly.

STETHS are second in Zone E on four points, having beaten Maggotty 1-0 in their opener before enduring a 1-1 draw in Lacovia on Saturday.

The perennial title challengers are chasing Munro College, who already have two wins from as many games and lead the zone wih six points.

Munro beat Lacovia 2-0 in their opener before clipping B.B. Coke 1-0.

“Our expectations, like any other game, is to try to gain three points. We are doing it match by match to get the necessary points and move on to the next game. Nothing new, nothing extraordinary, just as plain and simple as getting the three points,” said Wedderburn.

STETHS have won five daCosta Cup titles – 1974, 1999, 2009, 2013, and 2015. Additionally, they won six consecutive Ben Francis Knockouts – 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

Last season, STETHS finished atop of the zone but were squeezed out of the final eight by Cornwall College after the difference of a goal.

Fitzroy Ambersely, head coach of B.B. Coke, is also expecting a win.

“We want to play some good and attractive football. In our two last games we played, we had a slow start. However, we found out the problem, so we are going to improve on that and take it from there,” Ambersely said.

“We have five to six starters from last year that are back this year. Preparations are good, I dont have a problem. A poor start, but things are gradually growing, and we will continue to progress as we move along.”

Last season B.B. Coke drew 1-1 and lost 1-0 to STETHS. Munro play Newell at home, while Lacovia are away to Maggotty in the other Zone E games on today.
