LAST YEAR, Clarendon College walloped Glenmuir 6-2 in the final of the daCosta Cup football competition, marking them as decidedly second best, but based on form this year, the Andrew Peart-coached team is playing some of the best football in the competition.

The squad has been strengthened this season in their bid to go all the way, and one of the new players making a big difference is former Denbigh High School attacker Dunsting Cohen.

Cohen notched 17 goals for Denbigh last year and has taken that form to the neighbouring Glenmuir.

A national under-17, under-18, and under-20 representative, Cohen has scored seven goals for his new team, including two each against Clarendon College and Paul Bogle in the second round of the competition. Glenmuir topped their second-round group with a perfect nine points from their three games.

Cohen, an attacking midfielder, is ready to help his new team change their second-best tag.

“I will be doing my utmost best to ensure that Glenmuir win the title as the team is determined to go one place better than last year,” said a confident Cohen.

Cohen is adjusting well in his first season at Glenmuir.

“Playing in my first season for Glenmuir, I have no issue in adjusting, as most of my present teammates, I knew them growing up, and we played together before,” he said.

Asked about the reason for his move from Denbigh, Cohen pointed to the depth of the programme at Glenmuir.

“Glenmuir, for me, is a bigger programme, and this is definitely a plus for me going forward.”

Cohen believes Glenmuir stand as good a chance as any of winning the daCosta Cup.

“We do have a very strong all-round team, and the plan is to go all the way. I just want our fans to continue supporting the team as we are going to make them proud.”
