All-Jamaica Tennis Champs serves off today

PRESIDENT of Tennis Jamaica, John Azar, says the All-Jamaica Championships which serves off today could produce some stellar performances over the next seven days. The tournament, which has seen a record number of entries, is scheduled to run from today to December 21 at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre.
“This week’s All-Jamaica Championship promises to be an exceptional event. We have in excess of 120 juniors set to take part in the boys’ and girls’ divisions, well over 100 entries in the amateur section and a full draw of 32 men taking part in the pro section. Record setting numbers all around,” he stated.
Azar added that the competition will also feature overseas-based players and the excitement level is at fever pitch for the 2024 staging.
“The players are ready and raring to go. It is certainly one of the events on the local calendar that juniors, amateurs and professionals look forward to each year. We do have a number of overseas-based Jamaicans in the draw who will be competing for top honours,” he added.
Azar further explained that while year 2024 is drawing to a close, the commencement of this national championships will lead into a stacked 2025 season. Next year 2025 will also see Jamaica in action against New Zealand in Davis Cup action set for February 1-2 at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre.
“In addition to the All Jamaica National Championships which kicks off tomorrow, Jamaica will be hosting back-to-back ITF M15000 World Tennis Tour events on January 6 and 13. These events will see countless professional players from all over the world coming to Jamaica and will allow some of our top local professionals to play against high level competition and earn invaluable world ranking points, right here on Jamaican soil,” Azar said.
