Do you believe the authorities are doing enough to educate and

prepare residents in flood-prone communities to cope with possible flooding during the 2015 hurricane season, which officially started on June 1?

John Donaldson - community involvement officer

I think more should be done, especially in terms of trying to prevent flooding. In Newmarket, it is a mystery ... not much can be done ... it is somewhat similar in Chigwell. However, in the other areas, more can be done to clean up the drains and educate the residents.

Shantoya Campbell - clerk

I do not believe that the authorities are doing enough to clean the drains, the gullies and the waterways, which are the primary cause of flooding in many areas. I don't think much can be done about Chigwell and Newmarket, because of their geographical location and topography.

Nicole Wynter - businesswoman

No, I don't think that the Government is doing enough to make us aware about flood mitigation efforts. Year after year, some areas continue to be flooded ... more work needs to be done in those areas. However, Newmarket and Chigwell are special cases which I don't think that they can really control.

Courtney Samuels - radio host

I think, for now, they are doing some works to clean those drains and gullies, especially in Montego Bay. But more can be done in flood-prone areas like Anchovy and John's Hall. The Newmarket flooding is really unpredictable, I don't think they can control that.
