SEATTLE (AP):
Seattle's new minimum wage law goes into effect this month.
The law will eventually raise the city's minimum wage to US$15 an hour. It's phased in more quickly for big companies than small ones.
Starting yesterday, large businesses and national chains raised their minimum pay to at least US$11 an hour. Smaller businesses pay at least US$10 an hour.
Seattle's current minimum wage is US$9.47, the same as the Washington state minimum wage.
