Argentine journalist says wife was attacked for his reports
ARGENTINA
BUENOS AIRES, AP:
The Committee to Protect Journalists is calling on Argentina's government to help protect a local journalist whose wife was attacked for his reporting on drug trafficking.
Radio journalist Sergio Hurtado tells the committee that two armed men broke into his house in San Antonio de Areco, about 70 miles (112 kilometres) northwest of Buenos Aires.
Hurtado said his wife was sexually abused by the assailants, who ordered him to stop reporting on the drug trade. Details about the Friday attack didn't emerge until this week. Attempts to reach Hurtado yesterday were not immediately successful.
The Associated Press does not normally identify victims of sexual abuse, but Hurtado and his wife have spoken publicly about the attack.
Local journalism groups are also calling for an investigation and protection for Hurtado.
