Powerful Hurricane Hector on the horizon

Hurricane Hector roared as a major Category Three storm over the Pacific Ocean yesterday morning, but was far from land.
The United States National Hurricane Center said Hector was expected to remain powerful through early this week, but no coastal watches or warnings were in effect.
Hector had maximum sustained winds of 120 mph (195 kph). It was centred about 1,525 miles (2,455 kilometres) east of Hilo, Hawaii and was moving towards the west at 12 mph (19 kph).
