US man leads troopers on 27-mile high-speed chase

WESTON, Massachusetts (AP) — A Massachusetts man led state troopers on a 27-mile chase at speeds of up to 115 miles per hour early Wednesday morning before his car was stopped by a tire deflation device, state police said.
The chase started just after 3:00 a.m. when a trooper on patrol on Interstate 95 in Weston noticed the car speeding and driving erratically.
The trooper followed the car onto the Massachusetts Turnpike west and attempted to pull it over, according to a statement from spokesman David Procopio.
The car at first appeared to be stopping, but then suddenly sped up and the chase began, eventually ending on the Turnpike in Millbury when all four of the car’s tires were deflated.
The driver, Sean McLaughlin, 35, of Oxford, faces several charges.
The car he was driving was reported stolen out of Sarasota, Florida and the license plate on the car was a temporary plate registered to a business in West Columbia, South Carolina, Procopio said.
McLaughlin faces arraignment in Newton District Court on Wednesday. It was not clear if he has an attorney.
