Selling Jamaica

Published:Saturday | February 6, 2010 | 12:00 AM

The Editor, Sir:

I read with great interest 'The Air Jamaica issue ... more than sentiment' and 'Grave insult' in Friday's Gleaner. I and others have been trying to make these points obvious to the Government for some time.

Unfortunately, our Government continues in its stubbornness and what, to me, is worst, is a lack of a sense of nation building and national consciousness.

Air Jamaica, to many, is the Jamaican flag flying and displaying our nationality. Air Jamaica has also, over the decades, provided a safe, enjoyable ride home for our nationals travelling to and from Jamaica to various parts of the world.

economic benefits

Alfred Sangster points out some of the economic benefits to Jamaica, including jobs and the mode of transportation for many tourists coming to our local hotels.

Sell Air Jamaica, sell our flag also, sell our lands, sell our water. now, even our pride is on the brink of being sold.

Government should rediscover its cojones and arise from its missionary submissive position and truly represent the interest of the nation.

I am etc.,
