A drop in the bucket
The Editor, Sir:
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the police on their finding and arresting of persons, including one of their own, during the last week. Let us be realistic, however. This finding of guns and ammunition is only a drop in the bucket and it only means that there is a lot more work needed to be done.
The minister of national security stated after the findings: "I am really frightened by the implication of this find and what it adds to the difficulty that the police have in fighting crime and violence in Jamaica."
I am wondering if I am living in a different Jamaica from these politicians as some of their strategies are worrying. Now can you imagine this corrupt sergeant having draconian authority? Well, well, now we know. For good policing results, it is only for the force to build good community relationships through strong and meaningful public relations.
I am, etc.,
