Seth Verley is one of five siblings who attended Priory Preparatory School, Ardenne High School and PreUWI. His most recent accomplishment was winning the title of Pulse's Male Face of the Caribbean competition.
Verley, who dreams of finding a career in the music industry as a dj or rapper, spoke to The Gleaner after copping the title and shared about his first love - music.
Having two brothers and other family members in the music business, the 20-year-old admitted that he is inspired by the music of key artistes and rappers such as Drake and Eminem, because he admires how they transfer so much emotion and tell stories through their songs. Also a fan of dancehall music, Verley admitted that he admires Aidonia though he stated that its neither 'gully' or 'gaza' for him - just music.
How did modelling come about? The 20-year-old PreUWI graduate always looked at modelling as having a lot of opportunities that are life changing. "It's
"The overall vibe of the Caribbean Model Search competition was very edgy; but it all became calm after a while, because Pulse had so many mini-competitions walking the runway in front of people, so it became the norm. However, at the same time, it was a bigger competition so I was more nervous," he said.
No regrets
Verley said although he had the confidence within himself, he had no idea that he was going to go all the way. "Just in the top group," he continued. "I thought my chances were pretty low."
He shared that after winning the competition, it was like a rush and he was extremely excited. "I was just getting prepared in my head for the bomb rush for interviews and all those stuff."
Verley said he seeks to live a life of "no regrets" and always thinks his actions through, especially if the situation involves other people's feelings. "Life nowadays is too full of troubles to add on to the stress of wondering if what you did was right or not, or to live with the fact of knowing that you handled a situation wrong." Verley's role model is his grandfather, who he describes as incredibly wise, family-oriented, kind-hearted and said that many called him the perfect man. His one wish is to be remembered as "the person who always tries to help and expects nothing in return. The person who's always there for family and friends."
