Pieces of Italy were present in Jamaica when the Caribbean Producers of Jamaica (CPJ) hosted its monthly Wine Club gathering, which featured premium bottles of delicious wines that titillated the senses of all who attended.

Cristina Nuti, the export office coordinator for Antinori, flew in from Italy just to participate in this monthly gathering, of wine lovers, and the capacity-filled Blue Beat in Montego Bay was thrilled by her presence.

"We (Antinori) have been trading emails back and forth with CPJ, but I have never met face to face, although we have been doing business together for the past seven years," a vibrant Nuti explained.

The company, she revealed, has a rich heritage of producing quality wines, as they have been in business for over 600 years. She said the two have enjoyed afruitful business relationship, and it was only fitting that she came to Jamaica to participate in the celebration of a piece of Italy.

Monthly meeting

The monthly Wine Club meeting was organised by CPJ in order to educate its members and persons wishing to join the club about wines, and it facilitates an excellent opportunity for members of the business community to network.

Among the wines from the Antinori winery that was showcased on Wednesday were: the Santa Cristina Pinot Grigio that has a balanced yet tangy palate, mixed with good acidity and sweetness. The Castello Della Sala Chardonnay features a pale golden colour and is very soft on taste and well balanced. The delectable well-structured Peppoli Chianti Classico Docg red wine was a crowd favourite for the evening. La Braccesca and the Pian Della Vigne ended the night on a high note, with their rich aroma and unforgettable flavours.
