Something this good should never be forgotten. Wray and Nephew, distributors of the premium scotch Chivas Regal, hosted a reintroduction/re-familiarisation of the potent potable on Wednesday, at the Red Bones Blues Café on Argyle Road. The Wray and Nephew folk went for a cosy setting with recorded blues music. Not to be guzzled like a frothy brew, Chivas Regal, with its honeyed flavours, is known for being oh so smooth.

To help remind Jamaicans of the quality of the product, the hosts brought in Joe Cabassas, regional brand ambassador for Pernod Ricard, the second largest wines and spirits distributor on the planet. For those who were not familiar with the Chivas brand, Joe was more than willing to teach a few things.

Special creations

Guests, some of whom were more experienced with the brand, went for it neat (no ice) or with ginger ale. The bartender also served up special creations including the Chivas Royal, a combination of Chivas with Apple Schnapps or ginger ale, served in a champagne glass.

Who would have thought back in 1801 when the Chivas brothers opened their emporium, that one of their creations would still be a hit?
