Dining in a relaxing atmosphere, with an awesome view of the ocean just metres away, are some of the elements that will possibly make your time at Morgan's Harbour Hotel and Marina a memorable one.

Located in Port Royal, a stretch filled with a rich history, the restaurant will be providing specially selected dishes to customers during The Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week.

This is the responsibility of chef, Valerie Grant who is ready and eagerly awaiting the start of one of the most anticipated weeks on the food calendar. Here she takes the spotlight!

How long have you been in the industry?

Five years

How did you get started?

I had a friend who was going to the HEART Academy, and even though I liked teaching, I decided to start with her. I liked cooking from before, so when I started I loved what I was doing.

What is your area of speciality?

I am a general chef.

What was your experience during last year's Restaurant Week and what are you looking forward to this year?

Last year was okay. I did a lot of cooking and met different types of people. For this year, I expect it to be a great success and for persons to enjoy good-tasting food.

Do you cook at home?

Of course I do. My son likes chicken so I mostly prepare that.
