Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett celebrated his 60th birthday on December 3.
The minister used two events to mark his milestone, the first of which was a private dinner at Devon House for his colleagues, including those from the 1980s administration.
"It was good to see Winston Spaulding, Douglas Vaz, Dr Mavis Gilmore, Oswald Harding all mingling with the younger Cabinet members. It became a kind of generational connection," Bartlett said.
Former Prime Minister Edward Seaga was absent, as his book launch in the United States coincided with the soirée. Singer Alaine was the surprise guest, and she sang Happy Birthday for the birthday boy.
Then on December 4, Bartlett, his wife Carmen, and son Edmund Jr held a party for his family, friends and constituents of East Central St James at the Roaring River Great House in St Ann.
It was well attended by members of the political directorate and the business community.
The attendees included: Winston and Denise Dear; Godfrey Dyer; Senator Arthur Williams; Members of Parliament St Aubyn Bartlett; Clive and Karlene Mullings; Shahine Robinson; Othniel Lawrence and Maxine Henry-Wilson, and daughter Seya Wilson. Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Jennifer Griffith; Christine and John Kearney; hoteliers Richard and Carol Bourke; Shirley Williams from the Office of the Prime Minister; and Carolyn Hayle also celebrated with Minister Bartlett.
