Manchester Chamber lauds Mandeville's best
The Manchester Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards and banquet at Mandeville's Golf View Hotel on Saturday, January 29. Custos the Honourable Dr Gilbert Allen and his wife, Georgia, headed the guest list.
President of the chamber, Keith Smith, and team can be commended for a sold-out event that saw Dr Herbert Thompson as the very entertaining master of ceremonies.
Guest speaker Rick McElrea, senior trade commissioner at the Canadian High Commission, spoke about trade opportunities between Jamaica and Canada.
The night's big award winners were, for agriculture - the Christiana Potato Growers' Association; for commerce and manufacturing - the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union; and for education - Manchester High School. For health, this year's winner was the National Solid Waste Management Authority; for hospitality, the Golf View Hotel; for science and technology - Northern Caribbean University's 2010 Imagine Cup Team; and for sports, Nesta Carter.
